FIFA Club World Cup Final - Barcelona 4-0 Santos

(article about Man City 1-0 Arsenal by Assistant Editor Joshua Wong below this post)

Barcelona play with class, skill, flair, and passion. They deserved to be crowned the best football team in the world. They have proven to big-money-spending clubs like Real Madrid that money can't buy everything.

The Catalans outclassed Brazil's Santos 4-0 yesterday, in a match billed as a showdown between Messi and Neymar. The game was held in Yokohama International Stadium, with a full house of 68,166 specatators.

Lionel Messi scored with a chip over the goalkeeper after 17 minutes, when Xavi Hernandez set him up with a superb pass, while Neymar struggled to get control over the ball. 7 minutes later, Xavi got his reward and made it 2-0 with an assist from Dani Alves on the right. The Santos players looked glum and the spirit in them looked lost.

At the stroke of half-time Dani Alves made a stunning pass to Messi, who ran to the right of the post and back-heeled it back to Alves running down the side. Alves shot at the goal but was denied by goalkeeper Rafael Cabral. The block was deflected into Pedro's path, and Pedro headed it towards goal, but Cabral managed to tip it away. Unfortunately for Santos, the tip brought the ball to the feet of Cesc Fabregas, who made no mistake in slotting home the third goal for Barcelona.

Messi got his second goal and Barcelona's fourth as he jumped over the goalkeeper to roll the ball in after Dani Alves threaded the ball through to him. Alves played really well in the final and is my Man of the Match along with Messi. The Barcelona players are truly artists.
